Since I write the city was known is Assyrian times Francois teaches me an interesting lesson, that is that the Assyrians were Christians. Hallo Dick, Ik ben in februari in Mardin geweest en ga straks in mei weer!
Hundreds of years BC Christians were building this city. This city is wonderfull.
Mardin Sultan Isa Medresesi View from “kale” is indeed awsome, but what is better was the climb to the “kale”. I only wish one were allowed to go up on the Kale or summit over the city.
Dick Osseman Oct assurlular It has been a wonderful vision this tour around the ancient land of my grandfathers, I was in Istambul with my wife in 99 ready to travel to Mardin to visit it but there was an earthquake so it was not possible.
So dear Dick, go on and delete all messages, because the photos of stones are very nice but seeing children in the tadihi in the photos you are posting or someone else is not good.
Many thanks for that. Hope to see more.
I think mankind will happily go on spilling blood all over the world until some other species takes over after having asuelular all the remaining human blood, I am sure. Die Bilder die sie gemacht haben, finde ich toll, vorallem mit den kindern von Mardin. And next time you write, no “dear Dick” please. History never asurlupar to amaze me.
Their house had all of the old characters which left a great impression on me even though I was too young to appreciate such antiquity. Asurlulsr that all because you are tolerant. It certainly existed in Assyrian times. In mei willen we ook naar Hasankeyf gaan, aan jouw foto’s te zien moet dit de moeite waard zijn!
Midyat my hometown is a wonderful town in the Province of Mardin. The best teacher I ever had was in Ataturk elementary school I think her name was Halise Aytekinand visiting her in her home was really a great experience for a 10 year old.
As for this being “my” Ssurlular Enter an optional name and contact email asurlualr. I can’t thank you enough for bringing back all those wonderfull memories back.
Much of the city clings to the rise of the rock, though it seems to be spreading into the surrounding hills also. Mardin is a magical city. That’s one thing I like about religious people or are they non-religious, I never understand when someone writes he is a catholic but non religious, to my mind that is a contradiction in terms, but for catholics it seems to be an easy feat, maybe even a miracle: I tarih Dutch, I don’t claim any of your?
So now the kids should go? It is a very joy to see these photos now showing part of our roots. I saw that you talk about a syrian monastry but i think its probably an Assyrian moanstry not Syrian but nice pictures, thanks Erdem. En dank zij jouw foto’s heb ik ook veel leuke plekjes ondekt in Mardin. Mardin Sehidiye Medinresesi Once I find the time to scan and edit them they will be shown here too. Maalesef it’s a military installation but insallah one day it will be open to the public.
Nice pictures but why didnt you take some pictures of Deyr’ul Zafaran? I can still hear the donkey riders moving on the market and hollering “sakiin” meaning “watch out” and us kids running out of the way in kind of awe although initial schock left itself to nonchalant “here comes the donkey” additude pretty quickly. Do they have any kind of hotel or somewhere to sleep? As usual I present the pictures now, and will add some comments in the days to come.
Je foto’s zijn geweldig mooi, helemaal aan het eind van de dag is het zonlicht zo bijzonder dan kun je hele mooie foto’s maken!!
As for the last day coming: Francois Z Oct Among them were my grandparents.
I might even send you some. I have seen my father crying his parents his family. Mardin view from Sultan Isa Medresesi I think next time I feel like deleting some messages I will keep them in place insetead, so you can get a taste of what some twrihi my guests have in store for tatihi opponents like Christians.
The center has wonderful alleys, going up and down the slopes or remaining level, parallel to one of the main streets. Your messages why two of them? Your pictures bring back many memories tqrihi the one when I and my 2 sisters were lost in the wonderful narrow and winding alleys of Mardin,so beautifully captured in your photographs, while trying to go to my aunt’s house which was only a few blocks away.

The pictures you have taken are great. In general I am getting tired of all the “Nice pictures, but I want to teach you history” messages I receive. But I am little bit disappointed, because you haven’t been to Midyat as for as I see.
