The book was very good, and very funny, but definitely not my favorite Wodehouse ever. Featuring a cast of sharply drawn characters, from haughty film stars and monstrous producers to detestable critics and total divas, Barmy in Wonderland is a brilliant satire on life behind the curtains. Unfortunately Mervyn Potter is unable to sustain this binge-free lifestyle and Hermione cancels the fixture. The world is inhabited by two kinds of people — those who have come to depend upon a tissue restorative of some kind and others who chug along their barjy in a perfectly sober state of mind.
The Broadway producers are portrayed as tough talking, money grubbing, egotistical, rude and stupid. It took me a while to get into this story, but once I got into the groove, it went very quickly, and was as enjoyable as ever.

Why publishers felt the need to give Wodehouse books different titles for American readers, especially bywhen he was sufficiently established that the title was not likely to be a selling point, is beyond me. The romance is a little silly and didn’t appeal to me much.

I wonderlanf the crooked Lehman and McClure, theatrical producers, who address Barmy as My Blossom, love the neat and satisfying ending. Not one of Wodehouse’s best but still very entertaining story about the adventures of Barmy being suckered into buying and managing a Broadway wonderlanf. Whenever the plot shows signs of dragging, Potter shows up to give it a push in the right direction, something which would be annoying if you weren’t so busy laughing.
