As a person currently living in New York, I found many of the chapters to be interesting and still holding true to this day. The pieces still hold up as good writing and deliver plenty of sharp laughs.
Not meant to be read cover-to-cover. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. It is therefore both frann and unproductive to irritate the situation by making an effort. Besides a few cultural references I lost easily fixed by Google searchmany of her observations matched so perfectly to my cynic’s view. Lebowitz offers fgan guides for aspiring heiresses, popes, empresses; manuals for landlords; guidance to the rich who wish to meet the poor.

Half the time I forgot what lebowits was listing in the first place. By turns ironic, facetious, deadpan, sarcastic, wry, wisecracking, and waggish, she is always wickedly entertaining.
